Hi-Tech LED Collars For Dogs
At Aussie Dog Blog Australia, we understand that walking your pup during the dark hours can be a scary experience. One of the creators of Aussie Dog Blog was hospitalized after he was struck by a motorcycle during a walk with his lovely Greyhound. Fortunately he pushed his dog to safety. The situation may have been prevented if he had something to get the motorists attention.
Each year 24,000 pedestrians are hit by cars in Australia. That’s one person every 5 minutes. What an alarming fact! We made the decision to develop a line of LED dog collars and LED dog leads that would enhance visibility and allow drivers to see pedestrians and pups. As with almost every good idea, we googled it and found that the collar already existed. We searched the market and found a few companies that made LED collars for pets but they didn’t seem to consider what pup owners wanted. The collars on the market seemed low quality and not properly designed. We decided to ask people what they liked or disliked about LED dog collars and discovered there was a big opportunity to create a company around the ideas from canine owners.
We opened a kiosk, surveyed folks on the web, visited trade shows, spoke with manufacturers and started a crowd-funding campaign to gather as much input as possible. We gathered thousands of recommendations and integrated the most common functions people wanted. We intend to conduct this same in depth research for every new collar that Aussie Dog Blog launches.
Dog owners wanted a cool design that appealed visually. Lots of people wanted to combine reflective components with LED flashing system to maximize visibility. People wanted the LED lights to stay in place when the lead was attached. We asked them about colours. We asked about weight. We asked them about the battery pack. We asked them about the fabric. We asked about every single feasible element of the collars and leashes so we could design a product that folks wanted. It was simple, ask customers what they want and create the product around their suggestions. Since no one else wanted to put effort into designing a collar and leash that pooch lovers demanded, Aussie Dog Blog was born.
